About Sherah Carr

After close to 40 years of being involved in the education profession, Sherah inspires both pre-service and in-service teachers with her call for teaching with purpose and passion.  She loves to share her desire to help teachers create memorable learning experiences and effective assessment strategies for each and every child.  Her high level of dedication to teaching is evidenced by the fact that at four different schools where she taught her peers nominated her as a Teacher of the Year!

Sherah graduated from Georgia State University with a Ph.D. in Early Childhood Education and a cognate in instructional technology.  She has taught numerous grades and has been in leadership roles at the elementary and middle school levels. As well as teaching children, she has been a teacher of teachers leading a school staff development program and presenting a variety of workshops for teachers in the metro Atlanta area.  Sherah has also presented at numerous national conferences.  She is an associate professor at Mercer University - Tift College of Education in Atlanta teaching masters and doctoral courses primarily in curriculum and instruction.

Sherah has several areas of focused expertise to share with educators.  She has developed a five-part series of professional learning sessions on differentiated instruction and has presented over fifty workshops on practical techniques for meeting the needs of all learners. Sherah received her Brain Based Learning certification from Jensen Learning and has presented many workshops on strategies for helping teachers use what we know about the way the brain learns to help students retain information. Sherah has also made presentations about multiple intelligences and bringing passion back to the teaching profession. Her background as a technology coordinator also is incorporated into workshops on instructional technology or in the way she blends electronic resources into her presentations. She is an enthusiastic and lively presenter who will keep her participants actively engaged in the teaching and learning process.
